Hang, tape, finish

Board goes up on framing we set, which means the joints land where we planned them and the screws hit steel. Joints are offset, not stacked. Butt joints get floated. The reason this matters shows up six months later, when the tenant turns on the wall sconces and the whole elevation either looks flat or looks like a map of every seam in it.

Finish levels

We finish to whatever the spec calls for and we will tell you when the spec and the lighting disagree. Level 4 is the normal answer for painted walls in a commercial space. Level 5 is what you want under gloss paint, under critical lighting, or anywhere a large flat plane is going to be washed from a grazing angle, which is most restaurant dining rooms and every wellness suite with cove lighting.

If a drawing says Level 4 in a space that needs 5, you will hear it in the bid rather than in the punch walk.

Board types

Type X and Type C where the rated assembly calls for it, built to the listed detail. Moisture-resistant board in restrooms and back of house. Abuse-resistant board in corridors and anywhere carts run. Cement board behind tile. Standard board everywhere else, because specifying the expensive product in the wrong room is just money.

Where it sits in the package

Drywall is the middle of the three packages we self-perform. It goes on framing we set ourselves, and it finishes right before the ceiling grid goes in. The full services page lists what we hand off.
